Thiruvanthapuram : Election debacle was result of weakened organisational structure, said Ramesh Chennithala. Booths remained dormant and there was no body to even distribute slips to households, he said. Chennithala’s scathing criticisms came during the online fact-finding session of Ashok Chauhan Committee appointed by the High Command to study why UDF lost.
Chennithala said he had performed markedly well in capacity of Opposition Leader, however, the endeavours were not relayed properly down the rungs up to the grassroots. On the other hand, several MLAs told the Chauhan Committee how many of criticisms raised by Chennithala against government lacked credibility amongst public and pointed out that people dismissed his style of coming up with one new accusation every other day. Ashok Chauhan held talks with 8 MLAs and a few senior leaders.
Chennithala puts leadership in the dock
Chennithala squarely blamed the leadership saying UDF failed to rollout propaganda on various lapses made by the government. To this, the UDF leaders hit back saying, the prime responsibility in that regard rested with Chennithala himself. Thus state Congress is in confrontational mode even while appearing to a committee instituted to study its pathetic electoral defeat.
High Command indicates a thorough revamp
Meanwhile, High Command has begun set in motion major overhauls at KPCC and DCC levels and has instructed for changing all current DCC presidents. Following the news, Palakkad DCC President K Sreekantan tendered resignation. Sensing the revamp, maneuvers have begun at various quarters to somehow wriggle into KPCC office posts.
