THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijaya wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking urgent measures to help bring home the Indians who are stuck in Italy. The Centre had issued a circular stating that, permission for Indians to fly home from  Italy shall be granted only after they underwent Covid-19 tests there and certified negative for the virus.

Indisputably, there has to be preventives put in place to check spread of the deadly virus.  At the same time, obstacles faced by Indian citizens wishing to come back  should be helped with, CM said in his letter.  There exists facilities to subject these persons to intensive screening or even quarantine them  immediately up on their arrival here. Therefore the govt  circular should be withdrawn and arrangements made to fetch home Indians stuck in Italy, CM urges in his letter.

Trapped For Want  Of Govt Testimonial
ROME : According to reports, large number of Malayalis are among those stuck at airports in Italy without being able to return home. 40 people who planned to fly Dubai by Emirates before heading for Nedumbasserry in Kerala, remain stranded up to now.

On a video that’s gone viral, a group claim that authorities in Italy  have blocked their travel because there is no testimonial forthcoming from the Indian govt certifying their health status in terms of Covid-19. The objection came as we  were queued up for check-in, several of them said on the visual. People on the footage were seen pointing out that govt testimonial was crucial. There are several young children and pregnant women stranded here, they added

The video concludes  urging Kerala govt to urgently intervene on the issue. They are prepared to meticulously follow all instructions that may be laid down up on arrival, they said in desperation on  the video.
