Thrissur : Clashes erupt in BJP over havala money pertaining to robbery case in Kodakkara. The district office bearers shot their complaint to BJP and RSS leaderships accusing that a faction under party’s State Secretary was trying to falsely imply district-level leaders in the case. .
They highlighted that, the State Secretary faction never reacted to the havala case all through and has been instead crafting moves to place certain districts leaders under shadow of suspicion. BJP national president JP Naddha too lodged similar complaint on the matter. The state BJP;s two factions are both pointing finger at one another. The official faction helped the havala gang with accommodation in Thrissur and conspired to stage the robbery, said the other faction. To this, the official faction hit back saying, it was the state secretary faction that issued instructions deesigned to trap them into the case. It also claimed the state secretary had reached Kodakkara police station personally in attempt to incriminate the official faction.
The havala money was sent forth by Sunil Naik - a member of the state secretary faction. Also, his close aid, the District Secretary paid Rs. 50 lakh in rent arrears this month – a development, which the official faction said appeared dubious. With controversy raging further, the district secretary was removed from his charge of coordinating covid-mitigation activities and a General Secretary from another district was appointed as coordinator in his place. According to sources, the party is headed for open confrontations once the election results are out.
