Kochi : The High Court on Thursday ruled that each film unit must compulsorily set up an Internal Complaints Committee(ICC) to address grievances of its women artistes and workers. It is essential to do that as per Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace(Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013, the court observed.
Each film unit in an industry is an establishment and an ICC thus must be set up on individual basis, the court said. The ruling came in the Public Interest Litigation(PIL) filed by Women in Cinema Collective and delivered by Division Bench comprising Chief Justice S. Manikumar and Justicy Shaji P. Chaly.
