Thiruvananthapuram : The Education Department has commenced preparations toward reopening schools in the state. A high-level meeting chaired by Education Minister V. Sivankutty will congregate on 23rd of October The meeting will deliberate on how many students should be seated in classrooms to ensure Covid protocols are conformed with. The minster will also present to the meeting instructions after consultations with the departments of health, police and local self-government body. The minister has already held preliminary discussions with health minister Veena George. The decisions arrived post the meeting shall be submitted to the Chief Minister. The Education Minister has meanwhile urged public support for the reopening.
Meetings shall also be convened at district and state levels. Talks shall also be conducted with health experts and Collectors. Arrangements will be so designed as to allay anxieties of parents. Masks, sanitizer and social distancing will be ensured at schools. Also included will be rules applicable for vehicles in which the students will commute. Speaking with reporters, the minister said, decision on school reopening was made with due consultation with the Health Department, adding that m edia reports in this regard were not true.
