Web Desk(Tvm)Updated: Monday Aug 29, 2022

New Delhi:  Congress postponed its election for president by one month hoping the unwilling Rahul Gandhi will  come around to accepting the post. The extension of date is also in part owing to, en masse resignation from several leaders who staunchly criticised Rahul Gandhi and his circle of sycophants for party’s current plight.

The president of  Congress’s  election authority, Madhusudan Mistri presented the delayed date at meeting of the Working Committee – the party’s apex decision making body. When election notification gets published on 22nd September, leaders may file in their nomination between 24th and 30th . The papers will be scrutinised   on 1st October. Withdrawal of papers may be done up to 8th of October. If there be competition, election shall be held on the 17th and vote-counting shall take place on the 19th , the Working Committee decided unanimously. Sonia Gandhi, who is currently in U.S. for medical treatment, joined the Working Committee meeting online along with her children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka.
