Web Desk‌Updated: Wednesday Oct 18, 2023

Kollam  The A Group and Chennithala faction from I Group in Congress teamed  head-on questioning  sidelining that occurred during reorganisation of Mandalam president.. Both groups intensified protests announcing  boycott and  by  holding meetings. The A Group questioned KC Group’s  unilateral stand  in the matter.

Clash erupted over new Mandalam presidents in Kollam, Chatannoor, Karunagapally, Chavara, Punalur and Pathanapuram. The KC Group seized the post in constituencies of Kollam Mangad, Kollam West and Thrikurava.

In Iravipuram constituency, arguments rose at Iravipuram and Mundakkal. Protests played out in the open at Chavara South, Eduman in Punalur, Velinallur West in Chadayamangalam and constituencies of  Chatanoor, Pavumba in Chatannoor,  and Klapanna   in Karungapally, where they lodged complaint with the KPCC leadership and the Opposition Leader.

Presidents in Mangad and Trikaruva are facing stiff  resistance. Names proposed unanimously by the A Group and Ramesh Chennithal Group were shoved aside by KC Group. A Party senior from A Group said KC Venugopal’s denial of there being no Group is just that. KPCC General Secretary MM Nazir, DCC former president Bindu Krishna and district in-charge KPCC General Punalur Madhu are steering KC Group in the district, he said.

If there be no group, the leadership should become willing to take action against these persons, said A Group. The list of 133 of total 136 presidents have been  declared. Announcements are pending for Kulathupuzha, Chavara, Thkumbagam and Sastamkotta owing to disputes prevailing in these constituencies. Kodikunnil with just 11 Manadalams has 21 Mandalam presidents. Given the overall scenario,  the reorganisation of Mandalam Presidents has dealt a huge blow to the A and I groups.
