Vaikom : Congress and BJP Candidates coalesce under one panel to contest elections at the Vaikom Urban Co-op Bank elections.
The panel from Congress-led Cooperative Democratic Front has a woman BJP leader from Vaikom and two Congress Presidents , UDF Mandalam Convener and district Mandalam leaders rallying as one in the race. The candidates include Priya Gireesh – the BJP president of Vaikom Town Committee that includes 26 wards. She is BJP’s former municipal election candidate. Also featuring in the panel is, DCC General Secretary Saneesh Kumar who was also UDF candidate twice for Vaikom constituency in the Assembly elections.
There is resentment within Congress over prominent Congress leaders contesting alongside BJP candidates in the panel. And though the curious coalition is now out in the open, the leaders of both parties decline to offer any comment.
