Thiruvalla: Congress and BJP are attacking KIIFB so there takes place no development in the state and they are using central agencies for that goal of theirs, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, The move extends beyond KIIFB or its animosity to the LDF govt that runs KIIFB, said CM at a media briefing during election campaign in Thiruvalla.
“The LDF wishes development for people of this land and hence will defend against any attack on KIIFB.Incidentally, the governor himself lend reply a problem posed by Congress, BJP and central agencies against KIIFB. The governor’s response to a query in parliament said the Masala Bonds were issued with RBI consent. It was in reply to questions raised by 3 UDF MLAs. Earlier, UDF and Congress unleashed propaganda that Masala Bonds violated Foreign Exchange Management Act(FEMA). However, everybody now knows the outcome of investigations by central agencies on that count.
There should be no development happening in the state. The attack on KIIFB is aimed toward that goal. KIIFB was restructured to meet fund needs for infrastructure development that would extend beyond budget.. They say that is not to be. This is why there is such massive attack is being unleashed on KIIFB.
For setting up mechanisms toward infrastructure development in the state, KIIFB is implementing projects that will utilise annual income and other means for at least next two decades. KIIFB will also ensure that at no point would its liabilities exceed income. KIIFB thus operates with tight financial discipline.
A total of 889 projects to the tune of Rs 43,250 crores have been approved by KIIFB. Money has been set aside to acquire land for Industrial Park too. Several projects have begun works or been awarded. All projects will have been completed in 5 years from now. The land for projects shall be acquired and infrastructure will be transformed to that of high standards.
Bridges, roads, over bridges and flyovers will be constructed by PWD. Hillside and coastal highways too will be built. Development will be brought about in health, education and telecommunication sectors too. A major project in that direction is the 1063 crore rupees worth K-Fon. Power and sports sectors will see development as well. New drinking water project will be implemented. Congress and BJP say none of these should take place.
The massive floods caused us damages and great losses. There arose need for greater help to be able to climb ashore. However, they declared there should be no help extended. People surely remember that.
There is infrastructure development worth Rs 60,000 contained in the LDF election manifesto. KIIFB will provide the funds needed. Steps will be taken to ensure development of the state continues - the reason why all attacks against KIIFB will be strongly defended for", said CM.
