New Delhi: What’s happening at Screening Committee in Delhi is apportioning seats between A and I groups, said K Muraleedharan, adding that, In a meeting of MPs, the MP’s words hold no value at all. Group interests areof prime importance, hence I wont participate in the Screening Committee, he said. There was no encouraging gesture in the meeting of MPs held yesterday either, Muraleedharan indicated.
According to sources, Oomen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala are haggling over seats for their respective groups. Sidelining supporters’ resent, Oomen Chandy is pushing to obtain seats for K Babu and KC Joseph.
Amid all this, KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran said he will not contest polls this time. When asked if he would alter the view on High Command’s asking, Mullappally said the decision had come through after discussions with High Command. Candidate selection process is in final stages and announcements are likely tomorrow, he added.
Meanwhile, speculation is rife that keeping Mullappally out of polls is to prevent K Sudhakaran ascend to KPCC presidentship. At the meeting held, several including KC Venugopal is said to have opposed K Sudhakaran for the post.
Candidate selection has not been finalised in the Screening Committee meeting held today too. Discussions with allies on seat-sharing is yet to completer. Leaders headed to Delhi have left with jumbo lists. And, according to sources, seats promised to young faces are on way to being allotted to oldtime leaders.
