New Delh : Internal conflict inside Congress is now at boiling point and the party looks all set for another split in coming days. Those resenting Sonia family’s dictatorship are out in the open on war mode. Leaders held a meeting of sorts in Jammu recently are set to meet again in Haryana’s Kurukshetra. More of such rebel meetings are in the offing for other states too.
Meanwhile, loyalists backing the Sonia family burnt effigy of senior leader Gulam Nabi Azad. They demanded ouster of Gulam Nabi Azad and his lot from the party.
With elections looming on five states, the High Command is taking a serious view of the rebel front “G-23” picking up steam. Following the meeting held in Jammu, the Congress president in Jammu-Kashmir, Gulam Ahmed Meer was summoned to Delhi. There, Meer met with party General Secretary KC Venugopal, and also Rajini Patil, in charge of Jammu Kashmir. Party senior Ambika Sonia later met the leaders later to take stock of the situation.
The High Command meanwhile instructed regional units to refrain from any action against Gulam Nabi Azad given that the Assembly elections in Jammu Kashmir may be held any time now.
