Ancharakkandy, KANNUR : Congress has now become BJP’s fixed deposit, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. A BJP leader in state says the party can seize power if manages to bag 35 seats, meaning, the remaining can be arranged for. It takes 71 seats to assume power in Kerala. Therefore the 34-seat-formula points to BJP’s full confidence in Congress - the fixed deposit, BJP can draw on when time falls ripe. Should these “fixed deposits” be fielded at all? That’s a puzzle even staunch Congress supporters now ponder. Everybody hope they wouldn’t end up being betrayed, said CM speaking at a massive rally in Thattaril, Ancharakandi.
We have seen Congress winners morph into BJP men at so many places. Rajiv Gandhi has himself underscored that a marginal Congress victory fwill not suffice to survive. Doesn’t that mean only overwhelming majority can ensure holding on to power ? And yet, have they scrutinised party policies to find what lapses they might have gotten there ? Here, don’t we have Congress leaders who brag they have no hesitation to join BJP? . In spite of all this they say, Congress not winning would mean BJP will grow.
Most people in Kerala are secular minded and secularism is in seriously endangered around the country. It is RSS that is forever attempting to crush the country’s constitution. At one time, they did it covertly. Now they do it openly. Only RSS endorses Hitler model while rest of the world condemns it. They go about implementing whatever they think is right although secular. forces question their demeanour. . The state government stands firmly by it conviction on secularism. And, the people of this land have stood by the government to protect secularism.
Secular-minded people wish that Kerala's stand musters further strength. The need of the hour is to have an approach that does not compromise secularism - something that's not possible for people who symbolize communalism.
We have watched Congress compromise with communalism in several places. . And, what’s the current plight of the party that ruled India for many many years? Where are its leaders gone ? How many have landed in BJP camp ? And yet, Congress refuses to learn from its experience. It is time they looked up where they are wrong and effect due corrections, said CM.
