Wayanad : Congress Mandalam president was arrested in the Pullpally Co-op Bank loan scam racketeered by the Party leaders. Arrested in the case is the bank’s former Director and Congress Pullpally Manadalam president Vellilamthadiyil VM Paulose(60). With this, the number of people arrested in the case rose to three.
The arrest comes over complaint of Kellakavala Parambukatt Daniel. A complaint was also filed by Daniel’s sister-in-law Deepa Shaji. Aloan to the tune of Rs 20 lakhs was made out in the name of Shaji who killed himself last month.
The findings during inspections carried out by the Cooperation Dept also found Paulose guilty of fraud. Order has been issued for Surcharge proceedings against Paulose as well. He is also indicted in case filed separately by the Vigilance. Former bank president and KPCC General Secretary KK Abraham and former bank secretary Ramadevi were arrested earlier and remain in remand.
The victim in the case is a farmer, Pulpally Kellakavala Chembapakula Rajendran Nair committed suicide on 30 May. The inspections carried out by the Cooperation Dept and Vigilance point to fraud to the tune of 8 crore rupees. Vigilance filed its chargesheet in the case.
