Kochi : Prompted by safety concerns and restrictions under in growing pandemic, Triveni Supermarket and Neethi medical stores will drop off medicines and groceries to customers’ homes. It has been decided for Consumerfed stores to start home deliveries services from Thursday, said Chairman, M Mehaboob said at a press conference in Kochi.
The list of required groceries may be send by WhatsApp upon which, the store staff will deliver them at doorstep. The facility in the beginning will cater to areas hard-hit by the pandemic and extend to all places later. Also, Consumerfed’s 47 mobile units will get into delivering ordered provisions. At places lacking stores or mobile units, arrangements will be initiated to rope in KSRTC services, said the MD.
With view to worsening covid conditions, Consumerfed has stacked 16 times the usual stock. Prescription medicines too will became available at doorstep in similar manner against SMSs and plans are on anvil to deliver kit containing learning accessories to school students, said the MD.
