Bengaluru : Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa has resigned following allegations relating to suicide by a contractor who exposed bribery and corruption plaguing BJP government in state. The contractor’s death put immense prssure on the the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, KS Eshwarappa, forcing him to tender resignation.
The scam revolves around death of Santosh Patil, a Belagavi based contractor. He was found dead in a lodge in Udupi, reportedly from suicide. Prior to his death, Eswarappa had accused Eshwarappa and his cronies of not releasing payments of road work worth Rs 4 crore at Hindalga in Belagavi without him agreeing to pay 40 percent in commission.
Eshwarappa's resignation comes with matters came to a point where involvement of other ministers, including those at Centre, was likely to get exposed.
