Alappuzha : Police nabbed Allapuzha woman who conned people into parting with lakhs, on promise of army job. The accused is Shruthimol(24), a resident of Sanathanpuram Ward in Alappuzha Municipality.
She was at a resort in Punnamada when police made their arrest based on complaint lodged by two Alappuzha natives, who she swindled for eight lakh rupees.
Modus Operandi
Shruthimol personally meets with her potential victim and convinces they will be recruited into the army. That over, she proceeds to demand a big sum - half of which she collects here and the rest after summoning them to Delhi and to other places. To keep up the façade, until she has pocketed all the money, Shruthimol presents herself in military uniform while collecting the first amount and installments.
With Shruthimol’s arrest, police expect more people to come forward with identical complaint. Police are investigating to look if she might be having accomplices. Meanwhile, the accused was produced in court and remanded.
The team led by SHO S. Arun tracked and made the arrest. The team comprised Sub Inspector VD Rajiraj, ASI Mohankumar, B Lekha, SCPO Binoj, CPOs Vipindas and Ambish.
