Coronavirus : 633 People Under Observation in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : At least 633 people in Kerala have been kept under observation for possible exposure to  Coronavirus, said Health Minister KK Shailaja in a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram. The number includes 197 people who arrived Tuesday, of whom 11 have been admitted into hospitals in different districts : 2 in Ernakulam, 4 Thrissur and 1 in Malappuram. Also, a woman hospitalised at Trivandrum Medical College earlier, was discharged following recovery.

 

Of 16 persons admitted into hospitals so far, nine were allowed to leave. Fluid samples from 10 others have been forwarded to Pune Virology Institute. Of these, 6 tested negative for the virus while, results on the remaining four are awaited. Screening  facilities, set up at Nedumbasserry airport to check travelers from China, will be expanded to Thiruvananthapuram shortly.

Meanwhile, the medical teams that arrived from the Centre, expressed satisfaction at the precautionary measures adopted by the State.  Chief Minister wrote to the Centre seeking to ensure safety of students stranded in China. NORKA too is making efforts for their retrieval. Govt will take over medical treatment to these students up on their arrival. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told media that  Malayali students in China are in supply of food and other essentials.  If any problem pertaining to them shows up, govt will do the needful, he added.
