Kozhikode : In a strange logic applied to sexual molestation case, the Kozhikode Principal District Sessions Court on Tuesday faulted the victim for  dressing provocatively at the time of the incident. The court observation from Justice S Krishna Kumar came over plea submitted by Civic Chandran, who was granted anticipatory bail on that ground.

A woman writer had filed case with Koilandy police against Civic Chandran for sexual assaulting her at a lonely stretch on Nandi beach on 8th of February, 2020.  Chandran’s defense lawyer submitted to court pictures of the victim on the day. Buying the argument, the court also allowed Chandran bail in a case filed by yet another woman.

The court, in the ruling, also said it would not be possible to believe that the 74-year-old Civic Chandran with age-related ailments could physically subdue the victim and molest her.
