CPI(M) Leader A. Venugopalan Passes Away

Perinthalmanna: CPI(M) leader A. Venugopalan - a prominently active figure in socio-cultural-political life of Perinthamanna - has died aged 79. The end came at 2 am morning, Saturday.

A. Venugopalan is state secretary to Devaswom Board Employees Union(CITU) and a member of  CPI(M) Area Committee in Perinthalmanna. He also had a long stint as State Secretary of district bank employees’ association (BEFI). In Perinthalmanna, he has headed headload workers union(CITU) as its Area Secretary and other CITU trade unions in capacity of  District Secretary, President and Vice President.  He was also a member of Malabar Devaswom Board,  Devaswom Bill Committee and served as Chairman to Perinthalmanna Municipality and secretary to Edward Club and so forth after retiring as General Manager at Malappuram District Co-op bank.

Wife- Rajyalakshmi; Children - Nisha(Mumbai), Suraj(Canada), Abilash(HDFC); Children-in-law: Sukumar Panicker(Mumbai, Owner of Panicker Trading Company), Priya, Asha; Siblings - Ramchandran(Retd. Deputy Collector, Karunagapally), Padmini(Retd. Teacher), Narayanankutty(Retd. ISRO employee, Thiruvananthapuram), Mohandas(Retd High Court staff), Satheernam(Retd. Teacher, Manchery), Omana(Retd teacher), Usha(Perinthalmanna); Brother-in-law - CPI(M) State Committee Member, P Vasudevan.
