Thiruvananthapuram : CPI(M) State Secretariat in a statement on Wednesday said it welcomed Kerala Congress(M)’s decision to work alongside LDF.
That decision will lend impetus for UDF;s downfall and help bolster healthy polarization in Kerala politics. The party that helmed forming UDF in the state has now left the front after 38 long years. Earlier, LJD that quit UDF post last Assembly elections had joined LDF. Thus, the front in effect is now left with just two elements - the Congress and League.
Jose K Mani’s announcement stating that mutual cooperation is based on shared ideologies rather than on conditions, is a respectable stand. In the context, it is also notable that Kerala Congress(M) supported LDF on issues of secularism, farmers’ woes and developmental issues. Such thinking reflects solidarity with wishes of state’s majority public and is also an acknowledgement of LDF’s approach in those realms. .
With Jose K Mani declaring the party’s political stand in clear terms, LDF will discuss the matter and arrive at a positive consensus, the statement read.
