Thiruvananthapuram : Crime Branch laid its findings before court accusing Enforcement Directorate(ED) of serious offence namely fabricating false evidence. In his testimony to Crime Branch, the prime accused Sandeep Nair said he was intimidated by ED officials to name the Chief Minister, Minister KT Jaleel and Bineesh Kodiyeri in the gold smuggling case. The report complete with Sandeep’s testimony was submitted to court on Monday.
On 31 March, the Crime Branch approached Ernakulam Sessions Court seeking to record Sandeep’s testimony against ED. On receiving court sanction, senior Crime Branch officials reached Poojapura Central Jail on 2nd April and questioned him for his version of events.
Sandeep had earlier complained to Ernakulam District Sessions Court against ED who he said tortured him. In the complaint he also accused ED of forcing him to name CM. A copy of the complaint was received in a WhatsApp Group that included Advocate R Sunil Kumar, The lawyer subsequently moved a petition against ED. The petition was forwarded to DGP who instructed Crime Branch to probe the complaint. In its report, the Crime Branch also recorded statement from Sunil Kumar.
