Thiruvananthapuram : The person newly positive for Nipah had come into contact with the first victim, said Health Minister Veena George. The 39-year-old Cheruvanoor native was under observation and diagnosed with Nipah this morning. The Cheruvanoor native, the first-infected person and the one that died on 11th had all sought treatment at the same private hospital, the Minister said.
It has been found that all persons currently positive have had some kind of contact with 1st victim. It has therefore been decided to conduct tests on all persons on contact list pertaining to the 1st victim. The most recent patient is in isolation ward. The health worker, who is one among the hospitalised, has no symptoms of the disease. The child continues to remain on ventilator although, the hospital has not stated his condition to be critical, the Minister said, speaking with reporters after the All-Party meeting.
