Sizeable no. of coast guard ships and air crafts are deployed for rescues

Cyclone Maha crosses Lakshadweep; 2 deaths ; Boats missing; Heavy patrolling

Thiruvananthapuram :  Close on heels of Kayarr,  cyclonic storm Maha has hit shores of Kerala leaving a trail of destruction.
 
Water flooded into homes in affected districts. 1087 people have been evacuated and  365 families sheltered in 20 camps.

A fishing boat that took off from Chavakkad was found wrecked and one fisherman missing. The man has been identified as Kulachil native Antony Raju.
 
Meanwhile,the body of Kollam native Martin(24) was discovered after he went missing at sea.

An infant died in Iddukki's Upputharayil after an uprooted tree fell over a cottage there.
 
Six boats from Thalasserry and two that left Kannur's Ayikkara have not returned. There are around 30 fishermen aboard these boats.
 
Also 7 canoes from Kannur and Thalasserry carrying 22 fishermen men are yet to return, with at least 9 among them not contactable.
 
32 persons in 11 canoes from Mahi and Thalasserry were stranded at sea Thursday. Of them, sixteen have reached the shores.

2 canoes carrying 6 fishermen from Kannr's Ayikara too have not returned.
 
A fiber boat, owned by TP Shameer, at Mahi's coast capsized at sea. The fishing boat workers were all rescued by boats nearby.
 
Two boats from Vadakara failed to dock therethere and later closed in at Cheruvathur's Mavila coast instead.
 
Two canoes that took off from Azhithalayil, Nileshwaram upturned. Boats in the vicinity rescued those thrown into the seas.
 

At Kochi, five fishermen were rescued jointly by coast guard and a cargo ship there. Coast Guard ships and aircrafts in sizable numbers are patrolling the seas for rescue operations.

Maha after crossing Lakshadweep was racing at 13kmph presently at 330 km from Kozhikode.
 
Authorities have issued strict prohibition against taking to the seas.
