Thodupuzha : Heavy rains continue to batter Idukki and water behind all dams are on the rise. At Mullaperiyar, water level has climbed to 140.30ft. And although Tamil Nadu has increased its intake to 2250 cubic ft per secend, the thick inflow into the dam continues and authorities might be forced to re-open shutters.
Meanwhile, Idukki dam too is swelling and water level has risen to 2399.12 ft as of now. Water being currently discharged measures at 40 cubic ft per second. However, with no respite to torrential rains in the catchment area, a decision will likely come about in meeting slated today on release of more water from the dam.
