Janata Dal(S) has aligned with the Left Democratic Front in Kerala for years now. Its State leadership has a tradition of standing by LDF in Kerala even when the Party’s national leadership opted to ally differently. At no point in time, has CPI(M) ever attempted to intervene or comment on that Party’s internal issues, said CM.
There never rose a need to intervene in JD(S)’s domestic affairs even as a Chief Minister. That’s not how we function. None of us is responsible for some statement someone makes. It’s best and politically decent that Dewe Gowda’s statement be corrected, The Kerala unit of JD(S) assert that they oppose BJP and disagree with Dewe Gowda. The State President Mathew T Thomas and Minister K Krishnankutty have unequivocally described Dewe Gowda’s statement as nonfactual, said CM.
This is not the first time that Gowda flips for BJP. One would remember how JD(S) aligned with BJP in 2006. Gowda has a history of betraying his own Party ideology and teaming up with BJP to secure his son the Chief Minister’s post. The Janata Dal leadership and followers in Kerala are ones that left JDS protesting Dewe Gowda’s political stances, said CM.
Congress trailing after Gowda’s statement for political edge, has its own history of helping BJP when possible. In Kerala, the two are bonded across local self-govt establishments. Nobody has forgotten the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when Congress and BJP paired up to see actress Sumalatha win in Karnataka’s Mandya constituency, said CM.
Congress should not make a mockery of itself, chasing after “illicit bond” bragged in Gowda’s statement. There’s no need to weave fantasy surrounding that. Congress would have people who ally with BJP and enjoy perks thereof. Those are the very individuals that are pursuing the so-called statement, said CM
