Dheeraj Murder : 3 More Arrested; Total of 5 Now In Custody

Idukki : Three more were arrested Friday in connection with murder of Idukki Engineering College student, Dheeraj.  Taeken into custody  by police Friday are : KSU Mandalam President Toni Thekkilkadan and Youth Congress leaders Jinin Uppumakal and Jesin Joyi. With this a total of 5 have been arrested in the case.

According to testimony of Amal, injured and currently hospitalised, Tony Thikkikadan and Jinin were directly involved in the stabbing. Tony, also KSU’s Mandalam president, has entered campus several times in the past and caused trouble. Youth Congress office bearer Jenin was part of the the outside gang that arrived at the campus on the fateful day.

Tony and Jinin who went into hiding surrendered themselves to police at Kalamav station. Jesin Joy, the last to be arrested, is Mankav native and active member of the Youth Congress and is arrested for helping with escape of a key culprit, Nithin Lukose. He is also charged with destroying evidence.

Two more accused of direct participation in the murder remain at large. More culprits would be taken into arrest in coming days, said officers investigating the case. Meanwhile, police have to yet trace the murder weapons used for the murder.
