Cheruthoni :  “Dheeraj was brother to all of us.  He was a very loving person; All trouble was caused by arrivals from outside; None of us will have to do anything with KSU from now,” - these are words from Idukki Engineering college KSU Unit President, Muhammed Ashique.

The emotional note came about at a meeting convened by the Collector to discuss reopening of Painav Engineering College, closed after the campus murder of Dheeraj Rajendran on early last 9th January. The DCC Secretary was present at the meeting when Ashique expressed his feelings.

Aashique is Thiruvananthapuram native. Dheeraj was the college’s popular singer and a much loved  student. A gang of 12 Youth Congress workers led by Nikhil Payli   stabbed Dheeraj to death on the fateful day. Aashique’s words reflect pain over his own party men murdering a friend close to him and all.
