THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : For those who might be urgently in need for medications in lockdown conditions, the govt has launched new delivery system that uses police force to reach prescription drugs, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday.
People are required to dial 112 to avail this service. Up on receiving a call, the person’s name, address, phone number and the nearest police station is noted down along with the prescription required and information relays to the concerned nodal officer. The officer has the medicines purchased, packed, sealed and marked with caller’s complete details after which it is handed over either to the highway patrol or other assigned vehicle for delivery to the district where the receiver police station is located.
Trivandrum Medical College in the capital and Central Police Station in Kochi will function as nodal centres for the purpose, said CM. Once at district, police chiefs have been put in charge to have the packet delivered through jana maître police network to the addressee, CM added.
