Thiruvananthapuram : If there be any problem associated with conferment of D Litt for the President, the Governor should make it known and not some third party, said CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
Governor is the Chancellor of universities. It is not right to be claiming that party stands in the way, said Kodiyeri, responding to Ramesh Chennithala’s note on FaceBook saying, ‘if the Governor instructed Universities to award honorary doctorate to the President, the matter should be clarified by the Governor himself, not someone else’. The topic never came before the party or the Governor. I have to check if Governor informed the government on the issue, said Kodiyeri in televised interview Friday.
On SilverLine, Kodiyeri said, the Centre’s stance is crucial. If approval comes through, the government will take necessary steps to expedite the project. Jamaat-e-Islami does not appear opposed to the project. If it not so, they must make it clear, Kodiyeri added.
