NEW DELHI : DYFI on Monday filed petition in Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of the recently enacted Citizenship Bill.
The new law will grant citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Budhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians living in India without documentation and may have fled Afghanistan, Bangladesh or Pakistan to escape persecution there. On other hand Muslims under same circumstances will not be considered for citizenship.
The party will oppose the amendment in the court and on streets, said DYFI All India President PA Muhammed Riaz
