Thiruvananthapuram:Minister Thomas Isaac said Friday that KIIFB officials have formally informed the Enforcement Directorate(ED) they would not appear before it on scheduled day of 5th. The session is for purpose of oral testimony and officials are required to report at 10 am morning, reads summons shot by ‘lords’; The note of absence by KIIFB officials plainly said they were unwilling to attend. Let’s see what they can do, said Thomas Isaac in his Facebook post.
ED had summoned up a senior woman official from KIIFB to their office in the name of seeking testimony. What she met with upon reaching, was an incredibly harrowing experience. Chief Minister hinted the incident in the media briefing yesterday. The woman has given a written account of her ordeal to the KIIFB CEO, the Chief Secretary. The government too is mulling legal action on the matter.
Such oppressive demeanor on part of ED stems from the backing enjoyed from BJP. Perhaps ED officials are used being thrilled from the oppressive exploits in the northern states. However, it is different here. This land has a tradition of disciplining people who come armed with swords and bombs. ED officials will make this out in time. The sham inquiry is not any that’s aimed to gather facts. Rather, the modus operandi is to first prepare a summons and leak it to the media for political purposes. ED summoned the officials for a session on the 3rd while media celebrated it all over on 2nd itself, pointing to the political game behind it.
Incidentally, the questions ED ask too are vague. What case is being investigated for remains unmentioned throughout. The Supreme Court has laid guidelines on how to go about preparing summons. It categorically states, there should be unambiguous or clear mention of the concerned matter or case, while preparing summons. However, ED officials in Kochi put on airs like they immune to apex court rulings. To puppets that dance on strings of BJP Supreme Court would not matter after all. Anyway, the officials have signaled unwillingness to appear before ED on the appointed day of 5th. Let’s see what they do?, read the minister’s FB post.
