Kochi: Ed’s probe into CAG report that has not been previously tabled in the House, is an act infringing Assembly rights, said M Swaraj in his complaint submitted to the Speaker. Speaking to reporters, Swaraj said this kind of ED advancement amounts to encroachment on established rights.
News reports say ED has commenced probe on some remarks made in CAG report. According to media, the remarks in question came from an ED official on WhatsApp. If there be observations made in CAG report, the Public Accounts Committee at Assembly is the right body to first scrutinise them. Acting in the manner that it does, the ED is exhibiting unjustifiable political subservience, said Swaraj.
The Kerala finance minister upheld state’s interests and steps taken were done against the backdrop of extraordinary circumstances prevailing in the state. The central probe agencies are breaching all set limits and being manipulated for political vengeance, said Swaraj.
