Kochi : NIA submits chargesheet against Sharuh Saif, the prime accused of setting fire inside train in Kozhikode’s Elathur. The chargesheet was filed in NIA Special Court in Kochi Saturday morning.
NIA described Sharukh as sole suspect in the case - self-radicalised Jihadi who carried out arson in train as part of executing terror. . Sharukh chose Kerala for his twisted plan, in hope that he will not be identified, NIA said.
After the crime, Sharukh planned to live life as normal, NIA. stated in its report. Sharukh is charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code(IPC), UAPA and the Prevention of Destruction of Public Property Act.
The case : On 2 April this year, Sharukh set fire inside Alappuzha - Kannur Executive Express and made his escape. Three including a child were killed in the incident. Nine persons were injured and 3 left dead. The deceased were identified as Rahmat(45) of Badria Manzil in Pallodepally, his niece Chali from Kunnumal Veedu and Mattanoor Kodalipuram Puthyapuram Veedu resident KP Naoufeeq(35).
Contents of a bag Sharukh dropped, not far from the scene, gave investigators clue to his identify and he was later arrested from Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri on third day after the incident in an operation conducted jointly by the Kerala Police and Anti-terrorism squads of Kerala and Maharashtra.
