LIVE Updates: LDF Leads in 5 Corporation, 19 Municipalities

Thiruvananthapuram: Counting of local body election votes began at 8 am today at 244 centres. Latest updates   

  2.37 pm Cherthala comes to LDF from UDF after 10 years. Incidentally, it is also hometown to Congress and former Union Minister AK Antony.

● 11.45 am:  In  11th  homeward of Ramesh Chennithala too UDF conceded defeat to LDF.  Much the same way, UDF lost seat in Mullappally’s home village too.

●  11.41 am:  Pala municipality has been captured by LDF for the first time. 

●  11.38 : Karat Faisal won at Koduvally

●   11.37 : In Thiruvananthapuram,  as first round of counting ends, LDF  leads in the district

  11.20: Amid LDF lead in Thiruvananthapuram, corporation mayor Sreekumar lost from his Karikukam ward.

●  11.06 am:   In Kottayam’s Thodupuzha too as in Pala, PJ Joseph’s party Kerala Congress suffered damning defeat overwhelmed by electoral support for Jose K Mani spelling victories for LDF.Joseph has lost in 5 of 7 seats contested. 

●  10.52 am: In Kochi Corporation LDF and UDF are in deadlock with UDF winning in 16 and LDF in 17 wards so far.

●  10:46 : CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the results so far have shown that malicious propaganda aimed to wreck LDF has failed pitiably.  The results also are a fitful reply to central agencies that aided those elements, Kodiyeri added.

  9.39 am : Pala :  LDF leads in first  6 of 6 wards in Pala indicating support for Jose K Mani’s switch to Left 

  9.30 am: At Thiruvananthapuram, LDF is leading in 20 wards with UDF trailing with leads in 4 wards and NDA in 7

  In Kozhikode, LDF emerged winner in so-considered RMP strongholds of Onjiyam and Chorode. LDF has won 3 seats so far here. LDF is crurently leading in 26 wards while UDF and BJP trails with leads in  5 wards each 

 ●  In Kochi, UDF suffered a major setback with its  mayor candidate N Venugopal losing by one vote.   BJP candidate Padmakumari won after a draw was held following difference in EVM count and voters ticked on paper.

  In Kannur municipality where, Vayilkillikkal boasted of challenge to the Left, the party has conceded defeat to brutal majority bagged by LDF. The defeat is specially notable as Vayilkillikal enjoyed support from both BJP and UDF.  

    In Oomen Chandy’s home constituency of Puthupally, LDF  is leading. 

    LDF is also leading in 19 municipalities 

    In ballots processed up to now LDF leads in 5 corporations of Thrissur, Kochi, Kozhikode and  Kollam
