In the emerging data on civic polls based on district panchayats, LDF is ahead of UDF by 5-and-half lakh votes. LDF holds majority in 11 of 14 district panchayats. On the Block Panchayat front, CPI(M) secured 51,12,076 votes and Congress 48,97,024 Of the total 152 Blocks, LDF has clear majority in 105 and from the total of 2080 Block Divisions, LDF leads with clear majority at 1266 places- the split being LDF 961 and CPI 211 divisions, UDF 727 and BJP 37.
In Grama Panchayat wards, CPI(M) alone bagged more seats has UDF combined. UDF secured win in 5893 wards, while CPI(M) bagged 5947. The positions are : LDF bagged 7262 ward seats, UDF 5893 and BJP 1182. Kerala Congress(M) secured 257 seats while Joseph faction got just 178 and independents bagged remaining 1425
