Kochi : The strides Kerala has made in the education and health sectors are exemplary. That accomplishment  must be marked in the field of research as well, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurating the National Seminar on Knowledge Translation Research at CUSAT. When fruits of research can be put to use in health and agricultural sectors, it is of immense benefit to the nation, said CM.

The uniqueness of our land became known to the world during pandemic when Covid was widespread. While Covid brought many a  developed country to its  knees, our state was an outlier, providing  its people excellent treatment facility.  Even in developed countries, there were scores of instances when  patients visitng hospitals faced ventilator shortage etc.  We never encountered such dilemma. The exemplary work carried out in our health sector via Ardram mission, proved to be immensely beneficial in that regard.

All, including local self-government bodies, stood by the  comprehensive , all-round  development. Efforts in the direction of Nava Kerala lend strength to the educational and health sector.

The public education campaign is doing well.  There is wide debate on children leaving for higher studies abroad. Efforts are on to resolve that problem. Children are in pursuit of better academic institutions. Thus our institutions should be able to achieve that kind of standards. Efforts in that direction are beginning to see results, Recently, educational institutions in Kerala have scored good ranking in NAAC accreditation etc.

The field of research too must rise to further level. The government wished to confer post-doctoral fellowship to 500 persons and  in efforts put in,  came by 150, of whom only 70 were found eligible.  Way forward, we should be able to rectify such scenario,  said CM.
