Chengannur : Police in Chengannur seize explosives, including bombs, stored to thicken Congress-led anti-K-Rail protests. The cache lay along K-Rail survey stretch near Kozhivallur Devi temple on a farm belonging to a local resident, Balan Pillai.
The explosives were found contained inside a gunny bag on the farm. A team headed by Circle Inspector Jose Mathew conducted raid of the place. BJP had spread false rumours in the locality about K-rail cutting through the temple premises. With instructions from directions from BJP’s district leaders, workers are camped both inside and outside of temple for a while now.
These campers reportedly have stocked deadly weapons and according to sources, there are over 600 tyres heaped nearby for arson. There is plan to set up picketing around the temple to prevent Fire Force from accessing water from the temple in case of fire.
At a meeting held recently, BJP leaders in Chengannur decided to protest in front of Minister Saji Cherian’s house in Kozhivallur. Survey is set to commence through Kozhuvallur stretch shortly. RSS’s plans for explosives come after CPI(M) workers recently visited protest venues and allayed residents’ fears by explaining facts on K-Rail and land acquisition matters.
Recently, BJP workers under the aegis of their Mandalam leadership took out a recently to Saji Cherian’s office where they also raised threats to attack the minister.
