Kochi : Order issued midnight by the High Court in extraordinary sitting, stalls further sail of cargo ship. The restrain became imposed on ship named MV Asian Rice as it tried to sail away from Kochi port without making good on the money it owed.
Midnight sitting is first of its kind in the history of Kerala High Court. The said ship owes over Rs 2.5 crore to a private company for water supplies. However, the ship crew was in no mood to pay and rather planned to turn its back and sail out of the horizon, free and profited.
The midnight session took place on desperate knocks at the court to stop the ship from sailing out and outsmarting the victim company.
