Thiruvananthapuram : The matter published in media as ‘testimony’ is pure nonsense, nonfactual, said Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan. ED is randomly leaking information acting like mouthpiece to political motives. The so-called testimony claiming there is plan to start an academic institution abroad and make investments thereof, is simply baseless. Anyone can verify this with routine inquiry.
I know Lafeer Ahmed very well - the Ponnani native who runs an impressive school in Oman. I see such expats routinely and have spoken with them at times. I have been respectful of expats and the enterprises they run. But to misinterpret that as me having investments in those places is grossly misleading. I have never met Sheikh of Sharjah alone either inside or outside of Kerala. I have only attended one luncheon during the Sheikh’s official tour of Kerala.
A culprit, who has been in custody of investigation agency for months, has reportedly given eight testimonies so far. It should be inquired who motivates new tales created in this manner. I am ready for any kind of investigation. Such probe should be a fair and an honest one. Making farfetched moves on the back of hollow stories during election days is unacceptable. I have not in any way planned to set up an academic institution abroad or attempted to make such investment or canvass people for investments. I am saying all this only remove any misunderstanding that might have been unleashed among public on this matter, the Speaker said.
