Kottayam : In an endearing gesture of animal care, a dairy cooperative in Kottayam volunteered to take 17 cows under its protection after the owner family became infected with covid. The story unfolded in Kottayam’s Kodungoor.
There were 8 milch cows and 9 calves on the farm yielding 50 litre milk everyday - all of which hit the wall after the family members caught the virus. Dairy Cooperative Secretary VN Manoj and Wazhoor Dairy Officer TS Shihasuddin came up with relief for the crisis and moved the cows to different homes listed with the cooperative. Around 65 cows have been similarly managed during crisis so far.
