Thiruvananthapuram :Fever is spreading at rapid rate in State with daily tally for flu patients now nearing 13,000. 12,984 cases were recorded yesterday alone. Leptospirosis(rat fever), dengue fever and flu levels are on rise. 110 people have so far been diagnosed with dengue, of which, 43 were recorded in Ernakulam alone. A total of 218 people exhibit dengue symptoms in the district.
Malappuram is reporting large number of fever patients with 2171 fresh cases on Monday alone. 53 Dengue cases and 213 with dengue-like symptoms have been reported in the district up until Monday. 8 people were diagnosed with leptospirosis and 3 with malaria.
Pathanamthitta reported 3 deaths from leptospirosis. Majority of those who died from fever are under age 50.
With onset of monsoons, there is spike in fever cases. The Health Dept has put all necessary precautionary measures in place, said Health Minister Veena George.
