Alappuzha : The Alappuzha - Changanassery road being rebuilt as flood relief pathway is progressing fast to becoming semi-elevated. The first of flyover series, Jyothi - whose construction has been completed, is temporarily opened for traffic. Jyothi Flyover runs 350 meters in length and has 16 spans. The Flyover begins from the church front at Ponga Jyothi Junction and winds off at Parassery Bridge. A total of 5 flyovers are under construction, namely, Mankomp, Onnamkara, Bolck, Nasarath and Pandarakulam. The Pandarakulam flyover is nearly complete and will soon be laid open to public.
The flyovers are coming up at places that experience heavy water logging. The five newly constructed flyovers will serve as Kuttanad’s vantage point. The construction of roads between Mankmb, Block and Onnamkara and between Kidangara and Onnampalam, Mambuzhkari Bridg, and Pandarakulam Flyover is progressing at rapid pace.
Construction to convert AC Road as elevated began on 12 October of 2020. The project costs Rs 649.7 crore. The construction has been carried out in regulated manner so there never occurred an obstruction to traffic. The construction is being carried out y Uralungal Labour Contract Society.
