Five New Schemes To Commemorate Women’s Day

Thiruvananthapuram : Five novel schemes would  be inaugurated to mark the International Women’s day in state.  The schemes will address safety concerns, upliftment, health issues relating to women and will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Nishagandhi auditorium in the capital 5.30 pm Tuesday.

Dowry Complaint Portal
This portal will accept complaints on dowry harassment and lead to appropriate police action and measures thereafter.  The victim herself or any concerned member of the public may lodge complaint here.

Post-marriage Counselling
This portal aims to prevent domestic abuse and protect women’s rights. The portal will be managed by  Child Welfare Committee and its regional offices.

Anganapoomazha Paddapusthakam
This text aims to step up awareness of gender equality among children and its significance. It is a revised version of learning materials used currently by anganwadis.

Pentrica Basket
This scheme aims to resolve malnutrition among adivasis and health issues prevalent in that community. Pentrica Kutta groups shall be formed, overseen by anganwadi workers.  The scheme will work  to do away with unhealthy habits and lifestyle.

Scheme Dheera
This scheme aims to  nurture self-confidence among women and improve mental and physical health conditions of women.  Self defence mechanisms for personal safety will be emphasised for which, the Nirbhaya Cell,  will conduct martial arts training for girls aged between 10 -15 at select local self-government establishment premises from 1  April. .
