Kanhangad : The footbridge inaugurated by MP Rajmohan Unnithan last month is in scarily precarious condition with its sidewall collapsed. The bridge, in Pullur Periya panchayat, was built by contractors from a Congress-led Society. According to locals, the sudden wall collapse is owing to lack of filler and belts in the structure.
The bridge was constructed by stacking granite stones, without any concrete used in its pointing. The bridge was built in two phases at a cost of Rs 13 lakh by enlisting it in Panchayat project.
The bridge was inaugurated on 15 September and served to ease travel to Ekkal, Padankott areas and Kodavalam Maha Vishnu temple. The locals demand for Vigilance inquiry to find likelihood of involved in it’s construction.
