Four Of Malayali Family Killed In House Fire In Kuwait

Kuwait City: Four of a Malayali family in Kuwait’s Abbasiya died from smoke inhalation following fire in their flat they were not aware of. The deceased are :Thiruvalla Neeretupuram native Mathew Muzhakkal(40), his wife Lini(38), the couple’s children Irene(14) and Isaac(9).

Abbasiya, where the family resided, has one of the largest Malayali population in Kuwait. The fire is believed to have started around 9 Friday night. Mathew and family had returned from visit to their native place the same day and are presumed to have died inhaling smoke emanating from the air conditioner  while asleep.

Residents nearby noticed fire and smoke billowing from the AC. Fire fighters soon rushed to the scene and stopped the fire from spreading further,  however all members of the family had died by then.

Mathew has a job with the Reuters while Lini worked as a nurse. They lived in the apartment close to Indian school in Abbasiya.
