NEW DELHI NEW DELHI : Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot dropped out of race for post as Congress President and said he was sorry for the turmoil that took place in Rajasthan. Gehlot further said he will apologise to Sonia Gandhi, who he said will decide on his continuance as Chief Minister.
With Gehlot pulling out, the race former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay would quickly move in . Shashi Tharoor too will do his own thing to clinch the post. Digvijay Singh said he was ready for the election that will decide matters. Both Tharoor and Digvijay have filed in nomination papers. In the meanwhile, Digvijay met with Tharoor . Digvijay was in Kerala along with Rahul Gandhi on his Bharat Jodo yatra when Sonia summoned Digvijay to Delhi briefly.
The Rajasthan Turmoil : On night of Sunday, 25 September, 82 MLAs fsubmitted their resignation to the Assembly Speaker protesting Gehlot’s choice of Sachin Pilot as his successor should he be elected as Congress president.
