Dehradun : In a role reversal of Uttara Snakebite death in Kerala, a Uttarakhand businessman died of cobra bite administered by the woman who supposedly loved him.
The incident took place on 14 July when police discovered the lifeless body of. Ankit Chauhan(30) his car in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani, with the engines still running. There were mark of snakebites on his body and later postmortem ruled the cause of death as cobra bite.
His girlfriend Mahi Arya emerged as prime suspect after police noted a snake charmer’s number on her phone call list before and after the crime. Investigations indicated that Mahi had hired the snake charmer to inflict snake bites on Chauhan. Police have arrested the snake charmer who goes by the name Ramesh Nath after placing him under brief surveillance. However, their main suspect Mahi and her friend Deep Kandpal and two domestic helps, involved in the case, remain at large.
Chauhan’s death was initially ruled as accidental from snake bite. However his sister Isha, filed a complaint insisting that Mahi had a role in the death. According to snake charmer, Mahi claimed Chauhan drank heavily was abusive toward her and she decided to end it with murder. The police have nothing to substantiate that claim, at least not yet.
