Kochi : Arjun Ayanki, the prime suspect in Karipur gold smuggling case, gets bail that comes attached with strict conditions. According to the bail term, Arjun is barred from entering the district of Kannur. The bail was granted by Kerala High Court after the lower court rejected his plea.
Arjun is required to furnish Rs 1 lakh in bond and a bailer. His bail conditions require him to surrender his passport with the court. Also, he cannot leave the state without prior consent of the investigating officer and shall appear at police station twice each month.
Customs arrested Arjun Ayanki on 28 June in connection with gold smuggling via Karipur airport. The Economic Offences Court in Kochi had rejected his bail appeal earlier agreeing to the argument that his release would affect the investigations adversely and there was possibility of him influencing witnesses.
