Kochi : The coming to light of gold smuggling case involving Muslim League leader in Thrikkakara is only tip of the iceberg, said CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan
Fielding another query from reporters Kodiyeri said, there is no such information as to James Mathew ending his party activities.
James Mathew was moved out of State Committee based on his own asking. James Mathew had said he would rather stay confined with District Committee, said Kodiyeri, adding that, James was present at the District Committee meeting held yesterday.
Context : The Customs Commissionerate (Prevent) had raided the residence of Muslim League leader in trail of seizure of gold bars from a meat cutting machine that arrived at Air Cargo Complex at Kochi airport on Saturday.
The raid was conducted at home of Thrikkakara Municipality Vice Chairman and Muslim League leader AA Ibrahimkutty. 2.23 kg gold was found concealed in the base portion of the cutting machine that had been shipped from a company in Dubai where Ibrahimkutty’s son Shabin has investments.
