Thiruvananthapuram : Customs officials allowed former IT Secretary M Sivasankar to leave after detailed questioning and recording testimony in connection with the gold smuggling case, following allegations of his links to culprits. The probe officers visited Sivasankar at his residence in Poojapura earlier and summoned him to their office adjoining the Secretariat.
Customs is looking to see if the bureaucrat was in any way connected to the smuggling, conspiracy or transactions related to contraband. The team that questioned Sivasankar was helmed by Customs Assistant Commissioner K Ram Murthy .
